What is an ideal cut diamond
? The ideal diamond is a round brilliant cut that falls precisely within the guidelines for added sparkle and shine. These guidelines have been come up with because they maximize the visual appearance of the stone.
A diamond cutter is trained to cut a diamond to these specifications. The table of the diamond should be 53 to 57 percent of the diameter of the stone. The depth should be between 58 and 63 percent. The crown angle should be between 33 and 35 degrees. and the pavillion depth to be between 42 and 44 percent of the stone.
Sometimes this is simply impossible due to natural variations on the stone. And sometimes a diamond cutter is simply not precise enough. In these cases you will have diamonds that are not an ideal cut. However these stones are still extremely pretty and can be considerably cheaper, they just won’t sparkle quite the same way. The choice of diamond cut is up to you.
