At some point in our lives we all suffer heartbreak, whether it occurs as a result of the loss of our first love or the breakup of a long term relationship, the pain experienced can be acute and long lasting. It is said that time heals all wounds and for some people this may be true but for many others they need help and support to get through such a difficult time. The easiest thing when we are heartbroken is to shut others out and keep ourselves isolated in our misery until we feel ready to face the world again. Althought this is all part of the grieving process, prolonged isolation can lead to depression, so although it may be hard you should try to spend some time with your friends and family.
Everyday routine may seem like too big a chore at first and somehow when we have recently found ourselves alone, everybody else seems to be involved in a happy relationship, everywhere we look we see happy couples enjoying time together but this is not really the case and in fact it is only because we are hyper-aware of our own circumstances that we find ourselves seeing outside events this way.
Beginning to heal – spend time with others who care about you, talk about how you feel, you will find that many others will be able to share their own experiences of heartbreak, read sad quotes about love, written by others who have at some point in their lives felt a similar pain, one of the biggest parts of the healing proccess is acceptance and being able to relate to others can help you to accept and deal with the rollercoaster of emotions you are experiencing.
