Don’t Leave Your 401K When You Leave
It is critical to get your 401k rollover done when you leave your company. Mostly so you don’t lose track of where you money is and what people are doing with it. Even if it is just $1000 dollars, would you leave that randomly behind with some person you don’t know saying you’ll be back in 40 years for it, please make it worth more? No, of course not, so take your money with you. Just because a fund was doing well in the past it doesn’t mean the management won’t change, or your fund will change and they’ll just leave it in cash doing nothing. If you’re a real go getter you may change jobs every 3 – 5 years leaving your retirement scattered across the country. You don’t have time for 8 quarterly statements, who needs another spreadsheet?
